In an unusual but heartwarming incident, a young interfaith couple got married at the Kachiguda Police Station on Tuesday night.

The groom, Syed Imran (27), a private bank employee from Qadri Bagh in Amberpet, and the bride, Bhavya Shri (24), a resident of Golnaka Sanjeeva Nagar, were in love and decided to get married. However, their families did not accept their relationship.

Due to opposition from both sides, the couple left their homes two months ago and got married on their own. After learning about this, Bhavya Shri’s mother lodged a complaint at the Kachiguda Police Station on Tuesday.

Following the complaint, ACP Harish Kumar of Kachiguda police station called both Imran and Bhavya Shri for counselling. The couple produced their marriage certificate and clearly stated that they are adults and married by mutual consent.

Later, both families were also called to the police station and were counselled by the police officials. In the presence of the ACP and Inspector, the couple once again performed their wedding rituals at the police station. Syed Imran tied the mangalsutra around Bhavya Shri’s neck, and the couple exchanged flower garlands.

Police officials said the matter was resolved peacefully after counselling, and the couple was allowed to leave safely.
