In a significant move aimed at strengthening the friendship between India and Israel, Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai, Yaniv Revach, has announced plans to install a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a prominent Israeli city.

As part of the initiative, Revach met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official residence and sought the state government’s support for the proposed memorial project.

The announcement comes around the time of the coronation anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who was crowned on June 6, 1674, at Raigad Fort. The occasion is celebrated every year as Shivrajyabhishek Day.

Speaking on the occasion, Yaniv Revach said he was inspired by the historical similarities between India and Israel, particularly their struggles for land, identity, and nation-building. He noted that the proposed statue would symbolize the strong cultural and historical connections between the two countries.

According to Revach, the project is part of a long-term vision to bring the people of India and Israel closer through shared heritage, history, and mutual respect.

The proposal has attracted attention from political and cultural circles and is being seen as another step toward deepening bilateral relations between the two nations.
