Palestine: Jewish Settlers Set Fire to Mosque in Jordan Valley

West Bank, 2 February – (PIC): On Sunday morning, extremist Jewish settlers set fire to a mosque in the village of Arab al-Malih, located north of Jericho in the northern West Bank. The settlers also burned an agricultural tractor in the area.

Eyewitnesses reported that the settlers entered the village, set fire to the mosque and the tractor, and then fled the scene after carrying out the provocative act.

According to witnesses, the settlers who set fire to the mosque were provided protection by the Israeli occupying forces.

A video footage shows the mosque engulfed in flames. By the time the Civil Defense and Fire Brigade teams arrived, the mosque had completely burned down.

The Arab al-Malih community in the Ma’arjat area has been facing frequent attacks from settlers, who target the residents and their property, as well as grazing and killing their livestock.

The people of Ma’arjat are forced to live in constant conflict with the settlers, who are fully protected by the occupying government.

Attacks on mosques by settlers in the West Bank are not new. A similar incident occurred on December 20, 2024, when settlers set fire to the “Bar al-Walideen” mosque near the town of Marda in the north, near Salfit city.

The settlers also wrote provocative slogans in Hebrew on the mosque’s outer walls, targeting Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims.
