Non-Bailable Warrants Issued Against Controversial Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev

Palakkad, 2 February – A court in Kerala has issued non-bailable arrest warrants against controversial yoga guru Baba Ramdev. A similar warrant has also been issued against his associate and Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurveda, Acharya Balkrishna.

Both are accused of misleading advertising to promote Ayurvedic products sold by Patanjali. The Kerala Drug Inspector has filed a case against them regarding this matter. As part of the investigation, the Palakkad court had previously sent notices to both Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, instructing them to appear in person for a hearing on February 1.

However, neither of them appeared for the hearing on Saturday, which led the court to issue non-bailable arrest warrants against them. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for February 15.

Meanwhile, the government had earlier imposed a ban on ten products from Patanjali’s subsidiary, Divya Pharmacy, and canceled their manufacturing licenses, citing misleading advertisements about these products in the media.
