A shocking case of mob violence has been reported from Madhubani district in Bihar, where a local Muslim labourer was brutally beaten after being falsely accused of being a Bangladeshi national. The incident has drawn strong criticism from the Bihar State Minority Commission, which has ordered immediate and strict action against those involved.
According to officials, the incident took place in Teechka village under Rajnagar police station limits. The victim, identified as Khurshid Alam, belongs to a minority community and works as a daily wage labourer. A group of people allegedly attacked him after calling him a “Bangladeshi”, leaving him seriously injured.
Taking the matter seriously, the State Minority Commission has written to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, directing them to arrest all the accused without delay and take strict legal action. The commission said such acts damage social harmony and raise serious questions about law and order.
The commission has also instructed the police to register the case under appropriate sections related to mob violence, following Supreme Court guidelines. It further asked the Bihar government to provide immediate financial assistance to the victim’s family to help with medical treatment and other needs.
A disturbing video of the incident has gone viral on social media. In the video, Khurshid Alam can be seen lying on the ground, badly injured and bleeding, while one youth repeatedly punches him as others shout “Bangladeshi”.
After the video surfaced, Madhubani police issued an official statement confirming that the incident occurred on December 30, 2025, in Chakdah village. Police clarified that the victim is not a Bangladeshi, but a resident of Supaul district who works as a mason.
The Superintendent of Police has formed a special investigation team led by a Sub-Divisional Police Officer to track down and arrest the attackers. Police said raids are underway and assured that all those responsible will be brought to justice soon.
