Food delivery boy Farhan falls into drain amid rains in Hyderabad, sparking public outrage on social media

Hyderabad, 10 August – (www.deccanlive.com): A shocking incident took place in LB Nagar on Saturday night during heavy rains when a Zomato food delivery boy, Syed Farhan, fell into an open drain. The accident happened near TKR Kaman, where water levels in the drain had risen due to the downpour.
Syed Farhan, a resident of Santoshnagar and working as a delivery boy for the past six years, was on his way to deliver an order when he fell into the drain. His mobile phone was washed away, and his newly purchased bike—still being paid in monthly installments—was damaged and got stuck in the drain.
Local residents rushed to help, rescuing Farhan and pulling out his bike with the help of ropes. A video of the incident went viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the government.
People are demanding that warning signboards be placed near all open drains to prevent such accidents. Many blamed the negligence of GHMC for the incident, saying it could have been avoided with timely safety measures.
Farhan has appealed to the government for financial help to repair or replace his damaged bike so that he can continue his work and daily livelihood.
