Palestinian Ambassador meets Priyanka Gandhi. Congratulates her on her victory in Wayanad by-election

New Delhi, December 11 (UL): Palestine’s Charge d’Affaires, Abed Al-Razek Abu Jazar, met Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at her residence on Wednesday, December 11. He congratulated her on her victory in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election and expressed hope for continued support for Palestine’s freedom.

According to a news agency, Abu Jazar stated, “I met Priyanka Gandhi at her residence and congratulated her on her success in the Wayanad by-election. Priyanka assured her support for the Palestinian people’s right to freedom and sovereignty.”

During the meeting, Priyanka recalled her childhood memories of meeting Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat multiple times. She mentioned that Arafat often visited her grandmother, former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, or her father, Rajiv Gandhi. Priyanka expressed that she has been connected to the Palestinian issue since childhood and considers it a matter of justice.

She also highlighted the historic ties between India and Palestine, condemning the ongoing attacks in Gaza. Priyanka expressed sorrow over the destruction in Gaza, civilian casualties, and the deaths of women and children. She sympathized with mothers who have lost their children in the violence.

Palestinian Envoy’s Appeal:
During the meeting, Abu Jazar emphasized India’s significant role in West Asia and appealed for India’s intervention to support a ceasefire in Gaza and advocate for Palestinian rights. He also requested India’s cooperation in developmental projects for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had also met the European Union’s ambassador to India, Hervé Delphin, discussing similar issues.
