Today is Wuquf-e-Arafah: The plains of Arafat echo with the chants of “Labbayk Allahumma Labbayk” as millions of pilgrims raise their hands in prayer before Allah.
The greatest and most essential pillar of Hajj 1447 AH, known as Wuquf-e-Arafah, is being observed today with deep faith, humility, and spiritual devotion. Millions of pilgrims from around the world have gathered in the plains of Arafat to pray sincerely before Allah, seek forgiveness, and ask for His mercy and blessings.
According to Islamic teachings, Wuquf-e-Arafah is the most important pillar of Hajj. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Hajj is Arafah.” This blessed day is considered one of the most sacred in Islam, when Allah showers special mercy upon His servants, forgives sins, and frees many people from punishment.
Today, pilgrims will offer Zuhr and Asr prayers at Masjid Nimrah and in the plains of Arafat. They will listen to the Hajj sermon and remain engaged in remembrance of Allah, recitation of the Quran, sending blessings upon the Prophet, repentance, and special prayers until sunset.
Millions of worshippers will pray not only for themselves but also for their families, the Muslim Ummah, and peace and well-being for all humanity.
One of the most commonly recited supplications during Wuquf-e-Arafah is:
“La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadeer.”
Islamic scholars say that the Day of Arafah is one of the greatest days for accepted prayers, and sincere supplications made on this day hold special significance.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has completed major preparations at Masjid Nimrah to welcome millions of pilgrims.
According to the ministry, high-quality carpets have been laid across an area of more than 125,000 square meters inside the mosque to provide comfort to worshippers.
To protect pilgrims from extreme heat and hot winds, 19 large umbrellas have been installed in the mosque’s rear courtyard, helping reduce temperatures by nearly 10 degrees Celsius. In addition, 117 modern mist fans have been placed to cool the environment through fine water spray.
The ministry has also upgraded the mosque’s air conditioning, ventilation, and sound systems. For drinking water, 70 cooling units have been installed, capable of serving more than 140,000 pilgrims per hour.
To guide pilgrims, 150 digital screens have been activated inside the mosque. Video calling platforms have also been arranged to answer religious questions in different languages.
Additionally, 200 religious guides, 50 translators, and 300 support staff have been deployed around Masjid Nimrah and Jabal al-Rahmah to assist pilgrims.
To manage the huge crowd, 72 entry and exit gates have been arranged, while thousands of security, medical, and emergency personnel remain on duty.
Saudi authorities have also advised pilgrims to drink plenty of water, use umbrellas for sun protection, and strictly follow medical instructions to complete Hajj rituals safely.
