The Uttar Pradesh government has cancelled the registration of more than 31,000 Waqf properties after irregularities were found during verification on the UMEED portal. Officials said the action was taken after several errors and technical issues were identified in the submitted documents.
According to reports, a total of 31,328 Waqf properties have been deregistered so far in the state. Out of the 1,18,302 Waqf properties recorded in Uttar Pradesh, the Waqf claims of 31,192 properties were also rejected during the scrutiny process.
Officials stated that in many cases, the khasra numbers mentioned in the documents did not match the records available with the Waqf Board. Following the verification, authorities decided to cancel the registrations of the disputed properties.
Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in the country in digitally registering Waqf properties on the Centre’s UMEED portal. The state government completed the online registration process for 92,832 properties by December 2025.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs had earlier directed all states on June 6, 2025, to complete the online registration of Waqf properties on the UMEED portal by December 5, 2025. Later, the deadline was extended by six months. However, Uttar Pradesh completed the process ahead of schedule.
Officials said the verification drive was aimed at improving transparency and ensuring proper documentation of Waqf properties across the state.
