Telangana Announces Half-Day Schools from March 15 Due to Rising Temperatures

Hyderabad, 11 March – (www.deccanlive.com): The School Education Department of Telangana has announced that all schools will operate on a half-day schedule starting March 15 due to increasing temperatures in the state.

Revised School Timings

  • Half-day schools will be applicable to all primary, upper primary, and high schools under government, government-aided, and private managements.
  • Schools will function from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
  • In government schools, mid-day meals will be served at 12:30 PM.

Reason for the Decision

  • The temperatures in Telangana have recently crossed 40°C in some areas.
  • Yesterday, the highest recorded temperature was 39.4°C in Adilabad, while Hyderabad recorded 35.7°C in Asifnagar.

Holi Holiday

  • Apart from the half-day schedule, schools in Telangana will also be closed on March 14 for Holi, as it has been declared a general holiday by the Telangana government.

Summer Vacation Schedule

  • April 23 will be the last working day of the current academic year.
  • Schools will close for summer vacation from April 24 to June 11.
  • The new academic year will begin on June 12.

This decision aims to provide relief to students amid the soaring temperatures in the state.
