Muslim Elder Brutally Assaulted in Barmer, Rajasthan; Accused Arrested After Video Goes Viral

A disturbing incident has come to light from Barmer district in Rajasthan, where a 50-year-old Muslim man was brutally assaulted by a young man. A 36-second video of the attack went viral on social media on Wednesday, following which the police arrested the accused.

According to police, the incident took place on January 31 in Hamipura village, under the Gadra Road police station limits. The victim has been identified as Sheru Khan, a resident of Gadra Road.

Police said Sheru Khan had gone to the house of Bhanwar Puri, son of Shiv Puri, in connection with a dispute over goats. An argument broke out over the number of goats, which soon turned violent.

In the viral video, the accused can be seen throwing the elderly man to the ground and repeatedly kicking and hitting him, while also abusing him verbally. The victim is seen pleading for mercy. At one point, he is even kicked while trying to drink water. Two other people were present at the scene—one recording the video and another watching without intervening.

After the assault, Sheru Khan filed a complaint at the Gadra Road police station. Station House Officer Mukandan confirmed the incident and said the accused has been arrested and is being questioned.

The video has triggered widespread anger on social media, with many people demanding strict action against the accused. Police said further investigation is ongoing.
