Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and 5 Others Killed in Tragic Plane Crash in Baramati

In a tragic incident, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, Ajit Pawar, was killed in a plane crash on Wednesday. The accident occurred while his aircraft was attempting to land at the Baramati airport. A close aide of the leader has confirmed the news.

According to initial reports, there were a total of six people on board the aircraft, including Ajit Pawar, his security staff, and the pilots. Kiran Gujar, a close associate of Pawar who was present at the local hospital, confirmed the tragedy, stating that all six individuals were brought dead to the hospital.

The Deputy Chief Minister was traveling to Baramati to address four public meetings ahead of the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections.

Providing details about the accident, Baramati Airport Manager Shivaji Tawade said that the aircraft, a Learjet 45 with registration number VT-SSK, was attempting to land when it skidded off the runway and crashed.

The plane had been chartered from Mumbai. It is worth noting that the Baramati Airport was previously managed by a private agency but was recently handed over to the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC).

The news has sent shockwaves across the state, and senior leaders have begun reaching Baramati.
