The Telangana government has taken an important decision to help people who are eligible but have not yet received benefits under key welfare schemes.
The government has reopened applications for the Gruha Jyothi and Mahalaxmi schemes. This new opportunity is mainly for people who missed earlier chances due to lack of ration cards or mistakes in documents.
To accept fresh applications, the government has appointed Public Administration Officers at MPDO offices in every mandal. In urban areas, applications can also be submitted to officers appointed in municipal wards. After verification, eligible applicants will be added to the beneficiary list.
After coming to power, the Telangana government issued new ration cards. People who have recently received ration cards are now eligible to apply for government welfare schemes. Officials have advised such people to visit nearby MPDO offices and submit applications.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has urged eligible citizens to apply for the Gruha Jyothi (free electricity) and Mahalaxmi (gas subsidy) schemes.
For the Gruha Jyothi scheme, which provides free electricity up to 200 units, applicants must submit:
- Aadhaar card
- Ration card
- Electricity bill
For the Mahalaxmi scheme, under which gas cylinders are available for ₹500, applicants must submit:
- Aadhaar card
- Ration card
- Gas passbook
- Bank account details
Under these schemes, households using up to 200 electricity units receive zero bills, while gas subsidy amounts are directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
