Distribution of New Ration Cards in Telangana from 1st March

Hyderabad, 25 February – (www.deccanlive.com): Telangana Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced that the distribution of new ration cards to eligible poor families will begin on 1st March.

In the first phase, around 1 lakh ration cards will be issued in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, and Mahbubnagar districts on a single day. From 8 March onwards, the distribution will be expanded to other districts.

The minister stated that after 10 years, the long-awaited dream of poor families to receive ration cards is finally coming true.

The Congress government in Telangana had already started issuing new ration cards on January 26, initially providing 16,900 families with their cards.

However, the process was halted due to the enforcement of the MLC election code of conduct. Now, the government has decided to distribute ration cards in districts where the code of conduct is not in effect.

From March 8 onwards, ration cards will be distributed across all districts, with the government planning to provide a total of 5.12 lakh families with new ration cards.

People who have not yet applied can still submit their applications at MeeSeva centers by paying a ₹50 fee. A reference number will be provided to check the application status.
