Iran Ends Visa-Free Entry for Indians

New Delhi | November 18, 2025 | DeccanLive.com

Iran has announced a major change in its visa policy, stating that from November 22, 2025, Indian citizens will no longer be allowed visa-free entry into the country. Following this announcement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued an important advisory for Indian travelers.

According to the MEA, several complaints were received in recent months about Indians being taken to Iran on the basis of fake job offers or under the pretext of traveling to other countries. Fraudulent agents reportedly misused the visa-free facility that was available to ordinary Indian passport holders and convinced many people to travel to Iran.

The ministry warned that such incidents pose a serious risk to the safety of Indian citizens. It advised people to be extremely careful about overseas job offers, travel plans, or tour packages, and to verify all travel requirements and legal conditions before traveling abroad.

Iran’s decision to end visa-free entry marks a significant change in the existing travel rules between the two countries, and it may have further implications in the future.
