14-Year-Old Boy Dies of Electric Shock While Playing Badminton in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 10 August – (www.deccanlive.com): A tragic incident occurred in the KPHB police station limits on Sunday (August 10), when a 14-year-old boy lost his life after suffering an electric shock while playing badminton with friends in his house courtyard.

According to locals, during the game, the shuttlecock fell onto a nearby electric transformer. The boy tried to retrieve it by raising his badminton racket, which accidentally touched the transformer. The electric current passed through the racket, and the boy collapsed to the ground, losing consciousness.

Family members and neighbors rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. The incident cast a shadow of grief over the entire locality.

KPHB police reached the spot, shifted the body to a government hospital for post-mortem, and registered a case for further investigation.

Residents blame negligence by the electricity department, saying there were no proper protective fences around the transformer and the wires were unsafe. They are demanding that authorities take immediate preventive measures to avoid such accidents in the future.
