Telangana: Fancy Number “9999” Sold for a Shocking Price in Auction

Hyderabad, 13 July – (www.deccanlive.com): Vehicle owners are willing to spend huge amounts of money to get fancy registration numbers for their vehicles. The latest number series with rising ‘9’s brought a rain of money to the Telangana Transport Department.

In a recent auction held at the Warangal RTA office, the number “9999” was sold for a stunning ₹11,09,999. A contractor named Harsha Vardhan Reddy, who owns Harsha Constructions in Hyderabad, won the number TG 24A 9999 after a tough competition in the online bidding. He said the number is sentimental and lucky for him, which is why he didn’t hesitate to spend over ₹11 lakhs.

The base price fixed by the government for numbers like 9, 99, 999, and 9999 is ₹50,000, but due to high demand and tough bidding, the final prices skyrocketed.

Another number, “0009”, was sold for a record ₹5,72,999. This number was purchased by Konda Sushmita Patel, daughter of Telangana Minister Konda Surekha. Although the base price was also ₹50,000, the competition pushed the final bid up significantly.

Similarly:

  • The number “0001” was auctioned for ₹1,11,111.
  • The number “0003” was sold for ₹86,000.

Over the last two days, the Warangal RTA office witnessed fierce online bidding for fancy numbers, setting new records for the Telangana Transport Department in terms of revenue collection.
