Thousands of Palestinians Offer First Taraweeh Prayer at Al-Aqsa Mosque (Video)

Occupied Jerusalem, 1 March – (PIC): Despite restrictions imposed by the occupying forces, thousands of Palestinians gathered at Al-Aqsa Mosque on Friday night to perform the first Taraweeh prayer of Ramadan.

Scenes from the mosque show worshippers praying in congregation. As in previous years, Israeli authorities have imposed entry restrictions, barring men under 55, women under 50, and children over 10 from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Earlier on Friday evening, Palestine’s Moon Sighting Committee and religious scholars confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, officially marking the beginning of the holy month.

The Grand Mufti stated that a special meeting was held at Al-Aqsa Mosque to confirm the sighting of the Ramadan crescent moon. The meeting included Islamic scholars, officials, well-known personalities, and astronomy experts from Palestine and abroad. Based on religious and scientific evidence, it was confirmed that the moon was sighted, and the first fast of Ramadan will be on Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupying forces announced new security restrictions on Palestinian worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan.

Every year, millions of Palestinians visit Al-Aqsa Mosque for prayers, especially for Friday prayers and Taraweeh. However, Israeli forces use force and other tactics to prevent Palestinian worshippers from entering the holy site.
