Telangana: Contaminated Water Supply Creates Panic in Bandlaguda

Hyderabad, 27 March – (www.deccanlive.com): Contaminated water supply has once again caused concern in Telangana. Residents of Bandlaguda Corporation are worried as polluted water is being supplied in the area. People are questioning why dirty water is coming from the filter beds, which were launched with huge investments by the state government.

The drinking water supplied to Bandlaguda comes from Himayat Sagar. To ensure clean water distribution, the Telangana government recently set up five filter beds near Himayat Sagar at a cost of ₹6 crore. However, for the past 20 days, residents have been receiving polluted water instead of clean drinking water, raising serious concerns.

On Wednesday morning, villagers from Himayat Sagar complained to Water Board Officer Govind about the contaminated water. They expressed anger, stating that drinking such water could lead to health issues. They demanded an immediate inspection of the filter system and proper purification of the water before supply.

Officials from the Water Board responded, stating that muddy water could appear when maintenance work is being carried out. Currently, about 1.2 lakh liters of water are purified and distributed daily from Himayat Sagar to various villages under Bandlaguda Jagir Municipal Corporation. Residents are urging authorities to take swift action to prevent further contamination.
