At least six Palestinians, including women and children, were killed after Israeli artillery shelling struck a school in Gaza where displaced families were taking shelter. The attack took place in the Al-Tuffah area of north-east Gaza City.

Local sources said the school was being used as a shelter for displaced people and was also hosting a small wedding gathering at the time of the attack. The shelling caused panic and heavy damage, leaving several people dead and many others injured.

According to reports, Israeli forces fired shells around the school located near Al-Durra Hospital. Some victims were killed on the spot, while others suffered serious injuries. Body parts were found scattered due to the intensity of the attack.

Sources also claimed that rescue teams and civil defence workers were prevented from reaching the school. Continuous shelling around the area made it difficult to evacuate the injured or recover the bodies of those killed.

Initial information from people managing the shelter said the shelling hit the second floor of the school, where many displaced families had gathered for the wedding ceremony. This led to a higher number of casualties.

Reports said heavy firing was still continuing around the school, forcing civilians to remain trapped inside. Movement in the area remains extremely dangerous.

Earlier the same day, Israeli airstrikes reportedly killed four civilians, including a woman, in Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Medical teams said they were unable to reach some of the victims in time.

Shelling was also reported in the Al-Alam area west of Rafah, while airstrikes and artillery fire continued in eastern Khan Younis. Israeli naval boats were also reported to have opened fire along the Khan Younis coastline.

According to the latest figures released by Gaza’s Health Ministry, since October 7, 2023, a total of 70,669 Palestinians have been killed and 171,165 injured. Even after the ceasefire announced after October 10, 2025, at least 395 people have been killed and 1,088 injured, with 634 bodies recovered so far.
