Taliban Rejects International Criminal Court Arrest Warrants, Calls Them “Foolish”

Kabul, 9 July – (www.deccanlive.com): The Taliban government has rejected arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against two of its senior leaders. They called the move foolish and refused to accept it.

The ICC had issued arrest warrants for Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada and Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani, accusing them of violating human rights, especially by discriminating against women. The court said it has strong evidence of these violations.

However, on Tuesday, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid denied all the charges. He said the arrest warrants were a foolish step and such actions will not affect the Taliban’s commitment to Islamic Shariah law.

He also stated that the Taliban government does not recognize the authority of the International Criminal Court.
