New York, 29 July – (www.deccanlive.com): At least five people, including an off-duty New York police officer, were killed in a shooting incident at an office building in Midtown Manhattan on Monday evening.

According to officials, the prime suspect has been identified as Shane Tamura of Nevada. Police said he shot himself after the attack. A concealed carry permit from Las Vegas was recovered from him.

The shooting took place around 6:30 p.m. inside a high-profile building on Park Avenue that houses major U.S. financial companies and NFL offices.

Jessica Chen, who was attending a presentation on the second floor, told ABC News that she heard multiple gunshots coming from the first floor. “People blocked the conference room door with tables and tried to stay safe,” she said.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams confirmed that several people were injured and that police were conducting a floor-by-floor search of the building. He urged people inside to remain sheltered and cooperate with authorities.
