Former Aurangabad Member of Parliament and AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel was attacked by a mob during a municipal election campaign on Wednesday, January 7, in the BG Pura Janasi area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

According to reports, Imtiaz Jaleel was sitting inside his car when a group of people holding black flags started throwing eggs at him and tried to damage his vehicle. During the incident, a scuffle broke out between the mob and AIMIM party workers.

One AIMIM worker was reportedly injured in the attack.

Following the clash, police rushed to the spot and used a lathi charge to control the situation and disperse both sides. A video of the incident later surfaced on social media platforms.

AIMIM leaders blamed Congress candidate Kaleem Qureshi for the attack. They claimed that they had already warned the police about a possible threat, but adequate security was not provided. The party also alleged that BJP leaders Atul Save and Sanjay Shirsat were involved in planning the attack.

However, Kaleem Qureshi denied the allegations, saying that Imtiaz Jaleel staged the incident to gain sympathy and political support.

BJP leader Sanjay Shirsat also rejected the claims, calling them baseless. He said he would quit politics if the allegations were proven.

After the incident, police deployed heavy security in the area to prevent further unrest.
