In a shocking incident, a police constable was arrested in Hyderabad for stealing a watch during a raid at the house of a man who pretended to be an IAS and IPS officer. The arrest was made by Filmnagar Police on Friday.
The constable, identified as S. Sharan Kumar, works with the City Armed Reserve (CAR) and is currently the driver of the Filmnagar Inspector.
What Happened During the Raid
The raid took place early Wednesday morning at the luxury flat of Battini Shashikant, who lived in Aparna Aura Apartments, Shaikpet. Shashikant had been posing as a senior civil servant and had collected huge amounts of money from builders and influential people. After receiving information about his activities, Filmnagar Police registered a case and arrested him.
Constable Sharan Kumar was assigned to record the raid on video. While searching the flat, he noticed a Rolex watch inside the wardrobe of the accused. Believing it to be extremely valuable, he secretly put it in his pocket and continued his work.
Caught on Camera
However, the entire act of theft was captured on another constable’s camera. When senior officers reviewed the footage, the theft became clear. Taking the matter seriously, they ordered a detailed inquiry.
After the investigation, a case was registered against Sharan Kumar at Filmnagar Police Station, and he was arrested.
The Twist
In a surprising turn, police later discovered that the so-called expensive watch was not a real Rolex—it was only a cheap imitation.
The constable not only committed a crime but also ended up stealing a fake watch, leading to his arrest and suspension.
This unusual incident has raised serious questions about discipline and ethics within the police force.
