The Telangana government has announced a new welfare scheme to support women financially and help them stand on their own feet. Under this scheme, women will receive financial help worth ₹2 lakh to start a dairy business and earn a regular income.
The new scheme is called the Indira Dairy Project. It aims to encourage women to start small dairy units and improve their livelihoods. Through this project, the government will provide two buffaloes worth ₹2 lakh to selected women beneficiaries.
Out of the total amount, 70 percent (₹1.4 lakh) will be given as a government subsidy. The remaining amount will be arranged as a bank loan. In addition, the government will also provide support for fodder and cattle sheds.
Officials said that two buffaloes can produce up to 20 litres of milk per day, which can help women earn up to ₹40,000 per month. After expenses, they can save around ₹20,000 per month, giving them a stable source of income.
The scheme is currently being implemented as a pilot project in Kodangal and Madhira constituencies. The government plans to roll it out across the state soon. For this project, a total budget of ₹781 crore has been allocated, and ₹286 crore has already been released.
The Indira Dairy Project is expected to play a key role in empowering women and creating new income opportunities in rural Telangana.
