The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a nationwide emergency alert warning residents about the risk of possible missile attacks and urging them to take immediate safety precautions.

According to the UAE Ministry of Interior, people across the country have been advised to move to the nearest safe building or shelter as soon as possible. Residents were also instructed to stay away from windows, doors, and open areas for their safety.

The alert comes shortly after the UAE Ministry of Defence said it was responding to missile and drone threats coming from Iran.

Earlier, UAE authorities reported that their defense forces successfully intercepted six Iranian missiles and 131 drones on Thursday before they could reach their targets. However, officials said that one missile and six drones fell in different areas inside the country.

The Ministry of Defence stated that its air defense systems destroyed the missiles and drones in the air before they could cause major damage.

In a previous statement, the ministry said that during the ongoing conflict over the past week, UAE defense forces had already intercepted 196 ballistic missiles and eight cruise missiles after receiving early warning alerts.

Officials have urged residents to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by the authorities while the situation continues to develop.
