The mystery behind the tragic bus accident near Kurnool has finally been solved – all thanks to a mobile phone that played a key role in the investigation.

According to police reports, a man named Shivashankar was traveling on a two-wheeler along with his friend Erriswamy towards Done. When they reached Chetla Mallapuram, their bike hit a road divider, resulting in Shivashankar’s instant death. Erriswamy suffered only minor injuries.

Instead of informing the authorities, Erriswamy reportedly moved Shivashankar’s body to the roadside, took his mobile phone, and returned to his native village, Rampalli.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police searched for the missing phone on Friday but could not find it at the accident site. Tracking the phone number led them to Erriswamy in Rampalli, who was taken into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, Erriswamy confessed to taking the phone and explained the circumstances leading up to the fatal accident. Police later reviewed CCTV footage from a nearby petrol bunk, which confirmed the sequence of events and helped uncover the full truth behind the accident.

Authorities said the case serves as a reminder of how even a small piece of evidence — like a mobile phone — can help reveal the facts behind a tragic incident.
