Gaza is Not a Property to Buy or Sell: Hamas Responds to Trump’s Gaza Comments

Gaza, 10 February – (PIC): U.S. President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his desire to buy the Gaza Strip and make it part of U.S. territory. However, he also mentioned that he could allow other Middle Eastern countries involved in the reconstruction efforts to take control of parts of Gaza.

Trump’s statement prompted a strong response from Hamas. The group condemned the U.S. president’s comments, emphasizing that Gaza is not a piece of property to be bought or sold. Hamas’s political office member, Ezzat al-Rishq, stated that “the Palestinian people will reject any plans related to their forced displacement.”

In a late-night statement on Sunday, al-Rishq said, “Gaza is not a property to be traded, but an integral part of the occupied Palestinian land.”

He called Trump’s statement about Gaza’s sale “nonsense,” adding that it reflects a deep ignorance about Palestine and the region.

This response follows Trump’s recent remarks in which he told journalists on a plane that “there’s nothing left in Gaza… it’s a place of devastation.” He also indicated that he could allow some Palestinian refugees into the U.S., but each request would be considered individually.

On January 20, just after taking office, Trump proposed a large-scale American effort to control and rebuild the Gaza Strip. He has repeatedly suggested that Gaza’s population be relocated to other countries, with Egypt and Jordan being top candidates. However, both Cairo and Amman have consistently rejected this idea.

Trump’s plan has faced immediate criticism from many Arab and Western countries, as well as the United Nations, especially because forced displacement of Palestinians violates international laws.
