Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has announced the portfolios for the newly inducted ministers in his cabinet, giving former Indian cricket captain and senior Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin two important responsibilities.

Azharuddin, who recently took oath as a minister, has been given charge of the Minority Welfare and Public Enterprises departments. The decision is seen as a move to strengthen minority representation in the state government and to bring efficiency to public institutions.

According to official sources, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally assigned these portfolios to Azharuddin, recognizing his leadership qualities and popularity among the public. This marks the first time the cricket legend has joined the Telangana state cabinet.

As Minister for Minority Welfare, Azharuddin will oversee key programs related to education scholarships, employment schemes, the Haj Committee, Waqf Board, and other minority-related institutions.

In his role as Minister for Public Enterprises, he will focus on improving the performance and management of various state-run corporations and public sector organizations.

Azharuddin’s inclusion and the allocation of these portfolios have been widely welcomed by his supporters, who believe his experience and public image will help in strengthening government initiatives for both minorities and public institutions.
