Agra: Muslim Youth Arrested for Waving Palestinian Flag During Muharram Procession

Agra, 8 July – (www.deccanlive.com): A 22-year-old Muslim youth named Aman Khan was arrested for waving a Palestinian flag during a Muharram procession in Agra.

The incident happened at Nagla Fattori Ghat Tiraha, under the Itmad-ud-Daulah police station limits, near the Yamuna Bridge crossing on Saturday night.

Video Went Viral on Social Media

A video was posted from a Facebook account named Aman Khan, showing him waving the flag during the 9th Muharram procession. The video had a caption in English: “Muharram 9 – Agra” and included edited images of the flag.

After the video went viral on social media, the police identified and arrested Aman on Monday morning. Police also took down the video from his Facebook account.

Police Action and Charges

Police charged Aman Khan under sections 170 and 126 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) for disturbing public peace.

According to a police officer from Itmad-ud-Daulah station, “Aman Khan was booked for disturbing peace based on public complaints. He admitted his mistake and apologized with folded hands at the police station.”

After his arrest, he was presented in court and then sent to jail.
