As the Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, the political atmosphere in the state is becoming increasingly charged. On Sunday, Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) unveiled its list of 25 candidates. What caught everyone’s attention, however, was the inclusion of two Hindu candidates – a move that has sparked interest among both voters and political analysts.

The candidate list was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), where AIMIM stated that it aims to be the “voice of Bihar’s marginalized and neglected communities.”

In the previous elections, AIMIM had made significant gains in the Seemanchal region. This time, the party has slightly changed its strategy by including Hindu candidates in its lineup.

According to the list, AIMIM’s Bihar state president Akhtarul Iman will contest from Amour, while the two Hindu candidates are Rana Ranjit Singh from Dhaka and Manoj Kumar Das from Sikandra.

Other notable candidates include:

  • Adil Hasan (Balrampur)
  • Shamim-ul-Haq (Narkatiya)
  • Anas Salam (Gopalganj)
  • Murshid Alam (Jokihat)
  • Tausif Alam (Bahadurganj)
  • Ghulam Hasnain (Thakurganj)
  • Advocate Shams Aagaz (Kishanganj)
  • Ghulam Sarwar (Baisi)
  • Shan-e-Ali Khan (Sherghati)
  • Mohammad Ismail (Nathnagar)
  • Mohammad Kaifi (Siwan)
  • Aneesur Rahman (Keoti)
  • Faisalur Rahman (Jale)
  • Dr. Manazir Hasan (Munger)

Women and other candidates in the lineup include Naseema Khatoon (Nawada), Rashid Khalil Ansari (Madhubani), Mohammad Jalal (Darbhanga Rural), Akhtar Shahanshah (Gaurabauram), Shahnawaz Alam (Kasba), Mohammad Manzoor Alam (Araria), Mohammad Muti-ur-Rahman Shershahabadi (Barari), and Sarwar Alam (Kochadhaman).

Notably, AIMIM has formed an alliance with the Azad Samaj Party and Janata Party for the upcoming polls.

Speaking about the coalition, AIMIM’s Bihar president Akhtarul Iman said, “These three parties have always stood for Dalits, minorities, backward and deprived communities, and we will continue to fight for their rights with full strength.”

The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases — the first phase on November 6 and the second on November 11. The counting of votes will take place on November 14.
