Seven Attempts to Bring Sacrificial Animals into Al-Aqsa Mosque Exposed, Researcher Claims

A Palestinian researcher has claimed that there have been seven documented attempts by certain groups to bring sacrificial animals into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the Jewish festival of Passover.

According to researcher Ziyad Abuhas, these attempts were identified after reviewing platforms linked to groups associated with the so-called Temple movement.

Attempts Reached Old City, But Not Mosque

He said that in two cases, individuals managed to reach the Old City of Jerusalem carrying sacrificial animals. However, Israeli police reportedly stopped most attempts, and no animal was successfully taken inside the mosque compound.

The researcher noted that such attempts have been increasing over the years.

Rising Trend in Recent Years

According to the findings:

  • In 2025, there were six attempts, including three during Passover.
  • In some cases, individuals briefly managed to bring animals into the mosque courtyards before being stopped.
  • In 2024, at least three similar attempts were also reported.

Concerns Over Religious Tensions

The researcher stated that these actions are part of efforts by certain groups to introduce ritual practices inside the mosque compound, which could increase tensions in the already sensitive region.

He also said these groups aim to create support within Israeli society by encouraging such actions and presenting them as religious activities.

Mosque Remains Closed to Worshippers

The report comes at a time when the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound has remained closed to Muslim worshippers for several weeks under security restrictions.

Observers say the situation has raised concerns about religious freedom and access to holy sites, especially during important religious periods.

Despite the restrictions, tensions continue to rise as both sides remain sensitive to developments around the holy site.
