Hindutva Groups Protest Over Iftar Party in Meerut Police Post; Post In-Charge Sent to Lines

Meerut, March 26 (Urdu Live): A controversy erupted in Meerut after an Iftar party was organized at Zakir Colony Police Post. Following strong protests by Hindutva groups, SSP Dr. Vipin Tada took action and transferred the in-charge, Shailendra Pratap, to police lines on March 25.

The incident took place on March 17, when the SSP inaugurated the newly constructed Zakir Colony Police Post in Lohia Nagar. On the same evening, without official permission, the police in-charge organized an Iftar party. The event was attended by Inspector Vishnu Kumar, police staff, and several local residents.

Police officers arranged chairs for the guests and organized food and drinks for the Iftar party. A video of the entire event went viral on social media.

Hindu groups strongly objected to the event, calling it inappropriate to hold a religious gathering at a public police post. They threatened to take the matter to the Chief Minister and demanded action against the inspector.

Taking note of the controversy, the SSP transferred the police post in-charge to police lines.
