Syrian President Officially Asks Putin to Hand Over Bashar al-Assad

Damascus, 23 March – (www.deccanlive.com): After a successful rebellion in Syria, Bashar al-Assad left power and fled to Russia.

Syria’s new President, Ahmad Al-Shara, has officially requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to hand over Bashar al-Assad.

According to Arab media, President Ahmad Al-Shara said that legal action against former President Bashar al-Assad must be completed in Syria. He stated that for fair justice and legal procedures, Bashar al-Assad should appear in court and defend himself.

The new Syrian President also said that the money and assets of Bashar al-Assad and his family, kept in Russia, should be returned. He claimed that these assets belong to the Syrian people, but the previous government took them to Russia for personal luxury.

Meanwhile, a foreign news agency reported that Russia has denied having any of Assad’s money. According to a Russian source, President Putin will never hand over Bashar al-Assad to Syria.

So far, Russia has not issued any official statement on this matter.
