Rahul Gandhi has reportedly asked Congress minority leaders to openly speak about issues faced by Muslims and work towards improving their representation within the party.
According to sources, Rahul Gandhi made these remarks while addressing a meeting of the Congress Minority Department’s advisory council.
He said that if injustice is done to a Muslim, leaders should clearly raise the issue by mentioning “Muslim” instead of using only the term “minority.” He added that the same approach should apply to Dalits, OBCs, and people from the general category whenever they face attacks or discrimination.
A leader present at the meeting said Rahul Gandhi gave a clear message that the Congress party should not avoid using the word “Muslim.” He reportedly said that many people today prefer using the word “minority” instead of directly saying “Muslim.”
Sources also said Rahul Gandhi stressed the need to build a stronger platform within the party where Muslims can get proper representation and participation.
During the meeting, he also referred to the alleged issue of “vote theft” and claimed that Mamata Banerjee was earlier not with Congress on the issue, but has now decided to launch a movement against it.
Rahul Gandhi further claimed that the assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam were not conducted in a “free and fair” manner.
