Telangana MLCs Amer Ali Khan and Prof. Kodandaram Removed – Supreme Court’s Shocking Ruling

Hyderabad, 13 August – (www.deccanlive.com): In a major decision, the Supreme Court has cancelled the appointments of Amer Ali Khan and Prof. Kodandaram as Members of the Telangana Legislative Council (MLCs). The verdict was delivered on Wednesday, dealing a major blow to both leaders.

The two were appointed under the Governor’s quota. However, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders Dasoju Sravan and Satyanarayana challenged their appointments in the Supreme Court, claiming they were made illegally.

After hearing the case, the Supreme Court struck down the appointments, stating that the swearing-in ceremony took place in violation of earlier interim orders. The court said the process should have been conducted according to subsequent directions and adjourned the next hearing to September 17.

Amer Ali Khan is a well-known journalist, while Prof. Kodandaram is the president of Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS). Their removal from the Legislative Council has created a stir in political circles across the state.
