Hyderabad Man Fined ₹10,000 for Washing Car with Drinking Water

A man in Banjara Hills was fined ₹10,000 by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for using drinking water to wash his car.

The incident took place on Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. HMWSSB Managing Director Ashok Reddy was travelling along the main road when he noticed a man washing his car using tap water supplied by the Water Board. Shocked and angered by the misuse, he immediately stopped and warned the man not to use drinking water for such purposes.

The MD then instructed the local manager to issue a notice and impose a fine. Following his directions, the officials collected a ₹10,000 penalty from the man.

The Water Board also shared a photo of the man washing the car and a copy of the fine receipt on ‘X’. Officials reminded the public that drinking water must not be wasted and warned of strict action against anyone using it for non-essential activities.
