Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi is MIM MLC Candidate for Hyderabad Local Body Election

Hyderabad, 4 April (www.deccanlive.com): Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has officially chosen Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi as its candidate for the Hyderabad Local Body MLC (Member of Legislative Council) election.

Mirza Riyaz previously won as a corporator from Noor Khan Bazaar in 2009 and from Dabeerpura in 2016. In 2019, he was nominated by AIMIM as an MLC under the MLA quota. After completing his term in 2023, the party has now again given him a chance — this time as a candidate for the Hyderabad Local Body MLC seat.

So far, nominations have been filed by both BJP and AIMIM for this election. BJP has fielded N. Goutham Rao, while AIMIM has nominated Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi. A total of four nominations have been received so far, including two from independent candidates.

Earlier, there were talks that AIMIM might win unopposed with Congress support. However, with the BJP announcing its candidate, the election has now become necessary.

The MLC election is scheduled to be held on April 23, and the counting of votes will take place on April 25, followed by the announcement of the results.
