Fake IAS Officer Arrested in Hyderabad After Cheating People for Two Years

A man pretending to be a senior government officer has been arrested by the Filmnagar police. The accused, identified as Shashikant, had been posing as an IAS, IPS, and NIA officer for the past two years and cheating people.
Police caught him at an apartment in Shaikpet, where he had been staying.
Used Bodyguards and Fake IDs to Look Like an Officer
According to police, Shashikant went to great lengths to appear like a real officer. He used private bodyguards, walkie-talkies, and even a car fitted with a siren.
He also created fake ID cards of IAS, IPS, and NIA officials and even forged official letters to convince people.
Cheated Businessmen, Took Money Claiming to Be Deputy Commissioner (Mines)
Police said he introduced himself as a Deputy Commissioner (Mines) and collected money from several businessmen.
He reportedly took ₹10.50 lakh from the Managing Director of Gold’s Gym, claiming he could help with official permissions.
Police added that two others involved in the fraud—A2 Praveen and A3 Vimal—are currently absconding.
During the arrest, police seized:
- Two mobile phones
- Six SIM cards
- Two walkie-talkies
- Fake ID cards
- Other incriminating material
Police Appeal to the Public
West Zone DCP advised people to immediately inform police if anyone claiming to be a government officer demands money.
A case has been registered at the Filmnagar police station, and the investigation is underway.
