Cricketer Mohammed Siraj Leaves for Umrah

Hyderabad, 18 February – (www.deccanlive.com): Hyderabadi cricketer Mohammed Siraj has left for Umrah. According to sources, videos of him dressed in Ihram (pilgrim attire) at Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad went viral on social media last night.

Siraj, who was not selected for the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan and Dubai, has now embarked on the holy journey. In the videos, Siraj is seen getting out of a car at the airport and meeting his relatives before his departure. He was also seen carrying his travel documents.

This is not the first time Siraj has gone for Umrah. In 2019, he performed Umrah with his parents. This time, he chose to perform Umrah before the IPL 2025 season and the holy month of Ramazan.

Mohammed Siraj is performing Umrah at a challenging time in his career. The 30-year-old cricketer was not included in India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which surprised his fans and experts. Additionally, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) released him ahead of IPL 2025.

Earlier this year, Siraj played in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia, where he delivered an outstanding performance. He took 20 wickets in 10 innings, becoming the second-highest wicket-taker in the series. Despite this impressive performance, he failed to secure a spot in the Indian squad for the ICC tournament.
