Heatwave Claims 51 Lives Across Telangana as Temperatures Continue to Rise

Severe heatwave conditions continue to affect Telangana, with at least 51 people reportedly dying due to sunstroke and extreme heat across different districts on Saturday.

According to reports, the highest number of deaths was recorded in the combined Warangal district, where 23 people lost their lives. The combined Karimnagar district reported 11 deaths, while Khammam recorded seven deaths. Five deaths each were also reported from Adilabad and Nalgonda districts.

Officials said many of the victims were elderly people, daily wage workers, farmers, shepherds, and laborers who were exposed to extreme heat for long hours. One unidentified devotee who had come to attend the Saraswati River Pushkaralu at Kaleshwaram also reportedly died due to heatstroke.

Several districts witnessed extremely high temperatures over the past few days, creating difficult conditions for the public. Health officials have advised people to avoid going outdoors during afternoon hours and to stay hydrated.

The Telangana government has already issued heatwave warnings and asked district administrations to stay alert. Hospitals and health centers have also been instructed to remain prepared to handle heatstroke and emergency cases.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as temperatures are expected to remain high over the coming days.
