Muslim Girl Sitting on Hindu Boy’s Lap Sparks Controversy in Bengaluru, 5 Youth Arrested

Bengaluru, 12 April (www.deccanlive.com): In Bengaluru, Karnataka, a video went viral showing a Muslim girl wearing a burqa sitting on the lap of a Hindu boy on a scooter near a park. Some Muslim boys passing by objected to the scene and questioned both of them.

Instead of feeling embarrassed, the girl argued with the boys. They asked her if her family knew about this and questioned the Hindu boy for sitting in such a way with a girl from another religion in public.

One of the boys also asked the girl whether she felt any shame for behaving like that with a non-Muslim boy while wearing a burqa.

Later, the girl filed a police complaint against the five Muslim boys. Based on her complaint, a case was registered, and five Muslim youths, including one minor, were arrested.

Though the police initially said the situation was not violent, another video showed the group surrounding and possibly hitting the Hindu boy.

Reacting to the incident, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge said, “Moral policing will not be tolerated in the state. This is not Bihar, UP, or MP. Karnataka is a progressive state.”
