Telangana, Andhra Pradesh to Hold MLC Elections on March 20: EC Declares

Hyderabad, 24 February – (www.deccanlive.com): The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced that MLC elections for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will take place on March 20, 2025. These elections are being held to replace the retiring Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) in both states.

Retiring MLCs

In Telangana, the following five MLCs will retire on March 29:

  • Mohammed Mahmood Ali
  • Satyavathi Rathod
  • Seri Subhash Reddy
  • Malleshwar Yegge
  • Riyazul Hassan Effendi

In Andhra Pradesh, the following five MLCs will retire:

  • Krishna Murthy Janga
  • Duvvarapu Ram Rao
  • Parchuri Ashok Babu
  • B Tirumala Naidu
  • Ramakrishnudu Yanamala

Election Schedule

  • 3 March – Election notification issued
  • 10 March – Last date for filing nominations
  • 11 March – Scrutiny of nominations
  • 13 March – Last date for withdrawal of nominations
  • 20 March (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM) – Voting
  • 20 March (5:00 PM onwards) – Counting of votes
  • 24 March – Election process to be completed

The Election Commission has emphasized that the elections must be concluded before March 24 to ensure a smooth transition.
