Hyderabad Man Forced Into Russia-Ukraine War, Family Appeals for His Rescue

Hyderabad | October 17, 2025 | Deccan Live News Desk
A shocking case has emerged from Hyderabad, where a young man was allegedly forced into the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The man, identified as Mohammed Ahmed, sent a video message from the war zone describing his ordeal and pleading for help to return to India.
According to his family, Ahmed had traveled to Russia in April 2025 in search of employment through a consultancy firm in Mumbai, reportedly owned by a man named Adil. Upon arrival, he was not given any work for nearly a month. Later, he and around 30 others were taken to an undisclosed location, given weapons training, and then sent to the border.
In his video message, Ahmed revealed that he was part of a group of 26 men, including six Indian citizens. Of these, at least 17 have already lost their lives in the fighting. He also said that when he attempted to escape by jumping from a military vehicle, he fractured his right leg. Ahmed further claimed that he has been threatened with death if he refuses to fight against Ukraine.
Back home, Ahmed’s wife and family, who live near Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad, have appealed to the Indian government and the Indian Embassy in Moscow for immediate intervention.
Hyderabad MP and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi has written to the Ministry of External Affairs, urging officials to ensure Ahmed’s safe return at the earliest. Owaisi said the issue has been brought to his attention by Ahmed’s family, and swift action is necessary to rescue the young man.
The family is now anxiously waiting for a response from Indian authorities, hoping that their appeal will prevent further tragedy.
