Hyderabad: GHMC Shuts Down Illegal Meat Shops

Hyderabad, 10 February – (DeccanLive.com): In Hyderabad, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials have closed down meat shops operating without licenses. This action was taken after receiving several complaints, and the GHMC took strict measures against shops violating regulations. The municipal corporation has issued notices to 5,730 chicken, mutton, and beef shops.

According to GHMC officials, over 30,000 illegal meat shops have been identified, which are running without trade licenses. These shops were found to have poor cleanliness standards, and in many cases, stale and spoiled chicken and mutton were being sold. Additionally, some shops were selling mutton without the GHMC stamp.

The administration has warned that if the shops fail to improve their practices after receiving the notices, they will be permanently shut down. In response to the rising cases of food poisoning, GHMC has accelerated these actions.
