India produced an outstanding performance to defeat New Zealand by 96 runs in the T20 World Cup final and claim their third T20 World Cup title.

Batting first in the final, India posted a massive total of 255 runs in the allotted overs, putting New Zealand under pressure from the very beginning.

Strong Batting by Indian Top Order

Indian opener Sanju Samson played a brilliant knock of 89 runs, providing a strong start for the team. He was well supported by Abhishek Sharma, who scored 52 runs, and Ishan Kishan, who added a quick 54 runs.

Later, Shivam Dube contributed important runs in the final overs to push India’s total to a commanding 255 runs.

Indian Bowlers Dominate

Chasing the huge target, New Zealand struggled from the start as Indian bowlers delivered an excellent performance.

Axar Patel gave India the first breakthrough by dismissing Finn Allen during the powerplay. He later removed Glenn Phillips, further increasing the pressure on New Zealand.

Soon after, star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Rachin Ravindra, leaving the New Zealand team in deep trouble.

New Zealand Struggle in the Chase

After losing three key wickets early, New Zealand found it difficult to recover. Tim Seifert tried to steady the innings with 52 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to build strong partnerships.

Later, Varun Chakaravarthy dismissed Seifert, while Hardik Pandya sent Mark Chapman back to the pavilion. With five wickets down for just 72 runs, New Zealand’s chances of victory almost disappeared.

Captain Mitchell Santner scored 43 runs, while Daryl Mitchell managed 17 runs, but the team could not keep up with the required run rate.

Bumrah’s Brilliant Spell

India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah delivered an exceptional spell, taking four wickets for just 15 runs. He was close to a hat-trick after dismissing James Neesham and Matt Henry on consecutive deliveries.

New Zealand’s final wicket fell in Abhishek Sharma’s over, sealing India’s 96-run victory and confirming their third T20 World Cup triumph.

With this win, India also ended their previous struggles against New Zealand in major tournament finals.
