Tollywood star Vijay Deverakonda appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday evening in connection with the online betting apps case. The actor was questioned for nearly an hour at the CID office in Hyderabad, according to officials.

Sources say the SIT asked Vijay about his association with online betting apps, including questions such as — How did you promote these apps? What kind of agreement did you sign? How much were you paid?

Vijay reportedly told investigators that he only promoted the A23 Gaming App, which, he said, was a legal platform that sponsors sports like Kabaddi, IPL, and Volleyball. He explained that the app is not accessible in Telangana, which is why he agreed to the endorsement. Vijay also handed over copies of his contract documents to the SIT.

Officials say his statements were similar to those he made earlier before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March. The SIT is now examining the details to verify the facts. After the questioning, Vijay quietly left the premises through the back gate.

Earlier in the day, actress Siri Hanumanthu also appeared before the SIT for questioning in the same case. The Telangana government had formed the SIT under the CID Additional DGP after multiple complaints were filed across the state. The cases allege that celebrities and actors promoted banned betting apps, leading many youngsters to become addicted — some even taking their own lives.

Besides Vijay, the list of accused includes well-known actors like Rana Daggubati, Prakash Raj, and Manchu Lakshmi, along with a total of 29 individuals. The SIT recently issued summons to Vijay, Prakash Raj, and Siri Hanumanthu. Officials confirmed that Prakash Raj will appear for questioning on Wednesday, while others will be called soon.
