Hyderabad Student Dies After Jumping from IIT Patna Hostel

Patna, 25 February – (www.deccanlive): A third-year student of IIT Patna, identified as Rahul Lavari from Hyderabad, allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday. He reportedly slit his wrist before jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel building inside the campus.

Rahul Lavari was immediately rushed to Subhash Hospital, but the doctors could not save him. The incident created panic among students on campus, and a large crowd gathered at the scene. The college administration and local police were informed, and authorities reached the spot for investigation.

According to Vivek Kumar, in-charge of the IIT police station, the student was under extreme stress for several days. Preliminary findings suggest that Rahul planned the act carefully to ensure he did not survive.

Police have seized his mobile phone, laptop, and other belongings for further investigation. These items have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to find any possible reasons behind his tragic decision.

Rahul’s family has been informed, and his body has been sent to the Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem. The procedure will be conducted in the presence of his family members.

As of now, IIT Patna’s administration has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The investigation continues to determine whether academic pressure or other personal reasons led to the suicide.
