The IPL 2026 final between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans is set to create a major economic boost for Ahmedabad, with flight fares and hotel room rates witnessing a sharp rise ahead of the blockbuster clash.
The final will be played on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, with the match scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM. As thousands of cricket fans prepare to travel to Ahmedabad, airfares have surged significantly, with some flight tickets costing between ₹17,000 and ₹35,000 more than usual.
Hotel prices have also skyrocketed. Premium hotels in Ahmedabad are charging as much as ₹36,000 per night, while many properties in key areas are already fully booked.
Hotels Witness Massive Demand
Industry sources say most premium hotels in Ahmedabad have been fully booked for May 30 and 31 due to the IPL final. Areas such as Motera, SG Highway, Chandkheda, and Gandhinagar are seeing the highest demand for accommodation.
Ahmedabad has around 20,000 hotel rooms, and hospitality experts expect nearly all of them to be occupied during the final weekend.
Hotels that normally charge between ₹8,000 and ₹10,000 per night are reportedly offering rooms for ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 due to the huge demand from cricket fans.
Huge Revenue Expected
Hotel and Restaurant Association President Narendra Somani said the IPL final is expected to generate substantial revenue for the city’s hospitality sector.
According to industry estimates, Ahmedabad’s hotel industry could earn an additional ₹150 crore to ₹200 crore during the two-day period surrounding the final. Hotel room rates are expected to increase by 15 to 20 percent compared to regular prices.
The IPL final is also expected to benefit restaurants, transport operators, local businesses, and the tourism sector as thousands of visitors arrive from different parts of the country.
More Than Just a Cricket Match
Experts say the IPL final has become much more than a sporting event for Ahmedabad. Large-scale events, including international cricket matches and major concerts, have already demonstrated how such gatherings can boost the city’s economy.
The event is also expected to create temporary employment opportunities for thousands of people working in hospitality, transportation, event management, security, and related sectors.
With preparations underway for future international sporting events, including potential Commonwealth Games and Olympic bids, Ahmedabad continues to strengthen its position as a major destination for sports and tourism.
