Virat Kohli Creates History with a Mega Record, Becomes the First Cricketer in the World
Dubai, 2 March – (www.deccanlive.com): In the Champions Trophy 2025, during India’s final group stage match against New Zealand, Virat Kohli created history as soon as he stepped onto the field.
By being included in the playing XI, Kohli became the first cricketer in the world to achieve this unique record:
- Played at least 300 ODIs
- Played at least 100 Test matches
- Played at least 100 T20 Internationals
Kohli made his ODI debut in 2008 against Sri Lanka, his Test debut in 2011 against West Indies, and his T20 International debut in 2010.
Recently, Kohli announced his retirement from T20 Internationals after playing 125 matches and scoring 4188 runs, including one century.
Additionally, he has now become the 7th Indian player to play 300 ODIs.
Virat Kohli has set a new milestone in cricket by playing 300 ODIs, a feat achieved by only a few legendary players. His achievement draws comparisons with Sachin Tendulkar, who played 463 ODIs and holds many records in one-day cricket.
Kohli’s 200th ODI Was Also Against New Zealand
Interestingly, Kohli played his 200th ODI match in 2017 against New Zealand, where he scored a brilliant century. Despite his 121 runs off 125 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes, India lost the match. India had set a target of 280 runs, but Tom Latham and Ross Taylor guided New Zealand to victory in 49 overs.
